IT'S TIME TO START YOUR ENGINES
Are you a diehard fan of the stock car circuit? Does watching race car driving satisfy your need for speed? If so, it's time to fasten your seatbelts and cruise over to NASCAR Online. The official NASCAR Web site may not be as loud as sitting front row at the Daytona 500, but we're sure you'll find it just as entertaining. The offerings at www.nascar.com come faster than Dale Jarrett when he's driving in high gear. You'll find up-to-date news, results, standings and team information. In addition, the site serves up schedules and even track and event information. For the multimedia enthusiast, NASCAR Online contains a photo scrapbook, movie clips and sounds from the races you want to relive over and over. Ready to motor with the big boys? Take the information superhighway to the races. (Disclaimer: This site now contains advertisements.)

THIS IS ONE BLOOMIN' SITE
April showers bring May flowers, but now you can enjoy these beautiful blooms all year long. Wildflower photographer Thomas Kornack grew up in a flower-hunting family, and now he shares his wildflower collection on the whole World Wide Web at http://androsace.com. But these are more than pretty pictures-there's a lot of science in flowers. As you browse through photos of flowers from the woods of West Virginia to the summits of Switzerland, you'll also learn lots about these amazing plants. Like, did you know that orchids like to grow around utility lines in the woods? Thomas can tell you why. Whether you're into plant science or just like flowers, you'll want to check out this page and the other cyber-flower links because, who knows, there just might be a future botanist in you.

Dear Amy: How can we convince our parents to let us surf the Web anytime we want? If you could tell us what there is to do on the Internet, that would help us. -- Taryn, Thousand Oaks, CA

DDear Taryn: There are tons of good things to do on the Web. Just check out Weekly Reader's Galaxy at www.weeklyreader.com. Your parents should make the rules about when, where and how much you can surf. If your parents are like mine, they want to know the kind of Web sites you are visiting for your safety. And, since my Internet Service Provider charges for how long I'm online, my folks set the amount of time. I have our Internet rules for safety pinned on the wall above my computer.

Dear Amy: We're taking a trip to the Rocky Mountains this summer. I can't find a map of Colorado. How can I find out how to get there? -- Mike, Tampa, FL

Dear Michael: There are lots of places on the Internet that have maps. You can find weather maps, satellite pictures and other scientific stuff. But if you want maps that show roads and highways, then check out www.mapquest.com. You'll need to type in where you start from and the name of the city you are going to. It will tell you directions and how far to go.
