Here are some good places to learn about how to
stay safe on the Web. Also, many of these sites have parts for adults
that would be great to show your parents.
The cartoon character Doug makes learning about safe surfing fun
on Disney's Safe Surfing with Doug site! "Doug's Interactive
Story" is a great way to see how Doug and friends make smart
choices when online. And there are extra features including printable
pages explaining things like emoticons :) and tips for safe surfing.
Safe Surfin' for Kids & Teens gives safe surfing pointers
from stars and athletes. A "Driver's Ed Challenge" gives
situations you might encounter on the Web. If you answer correctly,
you're on your way to earning your driver's license!
Kid-friendly
search engines
Many of the search engines that are popular
with adults have special ones just for kids. Just remember, many of
these search engines may have ads or chat rooms.
Ask Jeeves for Kids is for young Web users, but it does contain
ads, both on the site, and in the pages to which it links. Although
it does have message boards, it does not host any chat rooms.
AOL Kids Only Search helps you find cool sites on the Internet
that have been handpicked by AOL. Like most other search engines,
this site does have ads, and also links to pages with ads.
