If you’ve designed something unique and you don’t want someone else to steal your idea, you can apply for a patent. Until 1880, inventors who applied for patents were required to submit a small model of their invention. Visit The Models to see All Models, such as miniature versions of a bicycle, roller skates or a machine for making toy torpedoes. Not all of the inventions have images available, but you will have fun seeing what some familiar items looked like when they were first invented many years ago.
