Have a bake sale, host a movie night for animals or organize a gift drive for a local pet shelter. These are just some of the ideas you'll find if you decide to Volunteer. Make yarn balls for cats and rope toys for dogs, or find recipes for treats dogs will love in Stuff to Do. Research for your next animal project at school will be a breeze when you visit Learn, full of information about wild animals, pets and farm animals.

You will be moved when you Meet the Heroes like mountain climber Tyler Armstrong, who uses his skills to raise money for boys who have Duchenne, a form of muscular dystrophy. Vivienne decided to "make a stand" and help free 500 child slaves by selling lemonade every day. Her determination motivated people around the world to join the cause. Feeling inspired? . Did you know that these people of the Pacific North Coast first learned to weave by watching beavers build dams? Weaving is still used to make clothing, baskets, fish traps and mats. You can Learn to Weave in a few simple steps, using materials you have at home. The Nuu-chah-nulth were also whalers, providing food for their community. Surprisingly, they used canoes, not large ships, for whale hunts.

Your tummy may growl as you read about pretzels, pizza and hot dogs in Iconic Foods. Did you know that the first school lunches cost only 3 cents? Try to figure out the difference between a Power Lunch and a Quick Lunch. If you ever visit the NYPL, you might want to see its collection of more than 45,000 menus dating back to 1900.
