“Lazy” Days of Summer?

With summer break just around the corner, you may be ready to put your books away and relax. But wait — reading can be an exciting adventure when you pick topics and genres you are interested in. It’s especially fun to start reading a new book series and get to know the characters as they develop. Characters from books that have stood the test of time are beloved for generations.

Did you know that the “Anne of Green Gables” series takes place in a real location, and that you can visit her childhood home on Prince Edward Island today? And characters such as Harry Potter are so popular that people visit sites in England such as Oxford University’s Christ Church College, whose staircase was used as the Great Hall of Hogwarts’ staircase. Other parts of that campus were used or served as inspiration for sets in the Harry Potter movie series.

Visit Kids Book Series, kidsbookseries.com, to find a new series to read over the summer. If you’re interested, go to the library to learn more about the author and the inspiration for the series you choose.
