Here's Lookin' at You

Lost, forgotten or discarded photos find a new home at Look at Me, http://moderna.org/lookatme. Some creative minds began the project with just a few photos found on a street in Paris, and now the site contains over 600 images. Check out the home page for the most recent photos added to the Look at Me gallery. If you happen to find any old photographs you would like to submit, read through the rules and see if you can pass on your timeless treasures. These are moments captured in time, lost to some but found and appreciated by many.

Dear Amy: What is the difference between a CD-R and a CD-RW disc? — Katy, Kirksville, Mo.

Dear Katy: CD-R and CD-RW discs are designed for different uses. When you burn or write information to a CD-R disc, the information on the disc will be permanent. However, CD-RW discs are designed to be reused. You can burn information onto them, erase that information later, or overwrite information on the disc. To learn about how CD-R and CD-RW discs are different in their construction, visit www.audiolinks.nl/cdr.htm. (This site is no longer available.)

Dear Amy: What are your best Internet safety tips? Paige, Erie, Pa.

Dear Paige: My favorite online safety tip is to never give out your personal information, unless a parent says it is OK. This includes information like your full name, phone number, e-mail address or other personally identifiable information. Not everyone on the Internet is a nice person. Some people pretend to be someone who they are not when they're online, and they might try to lure kids into a dangerous situation. You can learn how to be a safe surfer when you check out Safesurf at www.4kids.org/safesurf.
